State Police Arrest Wilmington Man During New Castle Car Dealership Burglary

The Delaware State Police arrested 38-year-old Stephen Lemmons, from Wilmington, Delaware, on burglary and related charges after he broke into a New Castle car dealership Sunday morning.

On September 13, 2026, at approximately 6:15 a.m., troopers responded to Glacier Auto Sales 2, located at 216 North Dupont Highway in New Castle, for a reported burglary alarm. Upon arrival, troopers discovered that a window had been smashed and forced open. Troopers located a masked suspect inside and ordered him out. The suspect, identified as Lemmons, complied and was taken into custody. During a subsequent search, troopers recovered a concealed machete, burglar tools, and property belonging to employees of the business from Lemmons.

The Delaware State Police Criminal Investigations Unit responded and took over the case. Through investigative efforts, detectives determined that Lemmons intended to steal a vehicle from the dealership.

Lemmons was taken to Troop 2 where he was charged with the below listed offenses and arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court. He was issued a $10,100 unsecured bond for this case; however, he was committed to the Department of Correction on capiases related to an unrelated matter.
