The Delaware State Police arrested 45-year-old John Dillmore, of Townsend, Delaware, on a 5th offense DUI and drug-related charges after a traffic stop Wednesday morning in Dover.

On October 7, 2026, at approximately 11:00 a.m., a trooper patrolling Route 1 near Fast Landing Road saw a Ford F-150 make an illegal turn off the highway onto an emergency access road. The trooper stopped the Ford and contacted the driver, identified as Dillmore. While speaking with Dillmore, the trooper saw signs of impairment and drug-related evidence in plain view.

Dillmore was asked to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, during which he continued to display signs of impairment. He was subsequently taken into custody without incident.

During a search of the vehicle, the trooper recovered approximately 0.2 grams of suspected methamphetamine, an approximately half-full flask containing alcohol, and additional paraphernalia consistent with drug use.

Following a computer search, the trooper discovered Dillmore had four prior DUI convictions.

Dillmore was taken to Troop 9 where he was charged with the below listed offenses, arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court, and released on a $7,500 unsecured bond.
